 Target Objectives

The target objective of our department is to train primary level workers of early childhood care and education and to lay the foundation for further higher education. In order to attain this goal, we should emphasize on

1.The study on basic skills and knowledge of childhood care and education.

2.The development of administrative knowledge on childhood care and education.

3.The diligent, optimistic and positive working attitude.

4.The continuation of higher education and the development of professional ability in order to become qualified childhood care workers and to lay the foundation for life-long education.

■ Curricula

1st Year: Common courses including Introduction to Child Care and Training, Child Development and Guidance, Instrumental Music, Domestic Affairs Skills, Child Care Work, etc.

2nd Year: Foundation courses and specialized courses including Children Activity Design, Teaching Aids Design and Production for Young Children,Observation and Record of Children Behavior、Administration of Early Childhood Education、Teaching Environment Design, Children's Science, Instrumental Music, etc.

3rd Year: Besides ministry- and school-mandated required courses, there are specialized courses including Practical Affair of Nursery, Occupational Ethics, and elective courses including Nutrition and Diet for Children, Childhood Care and Education for Children with Special Needs, Parental Education, Children's Welfare, Children's Literature, Children's Drama that are to be offered according to the need of future orientation of the field.

All the courses in the 3 years are shown as follows

(1)Common courses:Chinese Literature, English, Mathematics, Sociology, Natural Science, Arts, Life, Physical Education, Military Discipline and Nursing, and Activities.

(2)Ministry-mandated required courses:Introduction to Child Care and Training, Child Development and Guidance, Instrumental Music, Observation and Record of Children Behavior, Teaching Aids Design and Application for Young Children, Children Activity Design, Administration of Early Childhood Education, Practical Affair of Nursery, Occupational Ethics, etc.

(3)School-mandated required courses:Domestic Affairs Skills, Children's Art, Children's Drama, Children's Literature, etc.

(4)Elective courses:Children's Games, Introduction to Personal Computer and Associate Practice, Nutrition and Diet for Children, Childhood Care and Education for Children with Special Needs, Parental Education, Children's Welfare, Children's Style Design, Children's Science, Children's Music, etc.

 Extra Account for school-mandated required and elective courses :

In accordance with the tendency of the day, the opening of 4-year universities of technology and 2-year colleges and the second national road; especially that our school is at the location of the county government, bearing the expectation and supervision of fellow townsmen, the prior goal of us is to prepare our students for further studies. Therefore, the school-mandated required and elective courses are designed especially for the preparation for the entrance to higher schools.

 Content of Our Program

The content of our program includes the study of the basic knowledge of childhood care and education, the practice of concerning work, and the development of occupational ethics. By following the order from the basic, the specialized, and the practical the students can lay the foundation and pave the way for further advanced studies in the field.

To learn the practical skills needed for early childhood care and education.

Instrumental Music、Observation and Record of Children Behavior, Teaching Aids Design and Application for Young Children, Children Activity Design, Practical Affair of Nursery, Domestic Affairs Skills, Teaching Environment Design, and Child Care Work.

Occupational Ethics

1、To develop the sense of responsibility, honor, and self-recognition.

2、To learn to work in a team; To respect work and enjoy company.

3、To be loyal in your service and respect the system.

4、To have the sense of propriety, justice, honesty and honor.

5、To follow the moral principles and to abide by the law.

6、To be diligent; To be optimistic and progressive.

Occupational Ethics, Life Plan, Chinese Literature, Introduction to Social Science, class meetings, cross-class activities; specialized subjects combined with the cultivation of occupational ethics.

Humanities Cultivation

1.To learn to respect the value of life.

2.To develop the right sense of value toward one's occupation

3.To learn to appreciate art and one's own native soil, and to pay attention to environmental protection.

Taiwan History and Geography, Humans and the Environment, Introduction to Social Science, Music, Arts, class meetings, cross-class activities and weekly meetings.

 Future Orientation

The students in our department are expected to possess the following abilities:

(1) The ability to think creatively and to further develop oneself in order to adapt to the informational, technological, internationalized, and diverse future society.

(2) The ability to and interest in further studies and life-long self-development formed in the both academia- and occupation-oriented learning environment provided.

 Possible further development includes:

(1) Higher Education:To take the entrance examinations to 4-year universities of technology and 2-year colleges; to attain military schools, police schools, and correspondence universities.

(2)Employment:Workers at after-school child-care centers, babysitting centers and nurseries.
